the shoot

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY HEADSHOT SESSION?

*You have your whole life to party so until we snap that last shot..stay out of the pubs, clubs, and whiskey bars!

*Hit the gym to get rid of that extra cheez around the belly.

*Drink lots of water to clear up that 3rd eye on the ol' forehead.

*Get plenty of rest to lose the excess baggage under those eyes.

*Avoid foods with excess salt and sugar. Both will slow you down and retain water.

*Give real thought to the moods, and attitudes you want to convey with your headshots. Be on the same page with your agents & manager in terms of how they wish to market you. Do NOT hesitate to call me for advice. Your success is my success.

WHAT IS A LOOK?

A look is a wardrobe change that helps to bring out a mood, or an attitude. You should have a clear idea regarding where your strengths as an actor lie in the casting world and each specific look will enhance these unique individual qualities.

SO WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

While no rules are written in stone with headshots there are certain guidelines to follow:

*Solid colors are often best. Loud prints, and patterns can be distracting.

*Look for ways to layer your clothing. Distinct textures are pleasing to the eye.

*Choose colors that compliment your skin tone and eye color.

*Make sure you LIKE your wardrobe choices. It's important that you look and feel your best during our shoot.

*Don%u2019t be a slob. Whatever you end up bringing to our headshot session, make sure it%u2019s clean and wrinkle free. Seriously. %u2018Nuff said.

*Again, these are all just guidelines, not rules. If you feel strongly about something, by all means bring it.

DO I REALLY NEED A MAKEUP ARTIST?

I tend to favor the %u2018less is more%u2019 approach to make up when working on headshots for actors. However in some instances a skilled make up artist can undoubtedly make a good shot great. There are several that I work with and recommend highly. Or you can hire your own. However you prefer, the choice is up to you.

INDOOR OR OUTDOOR?

I prefer to shoot outdoors and on different locations. This has a natural way of keeping things fresh and spontaneous, resulting in headshots that breathe with life and individuality.

IS THIS GONNA HURT?

Nah, I%u2019m a teddy bear. With me it%u2019s all about truth, improvisation, and most importantly%u2026fun! The technical issues will take care of themselves. That%u2019s my job. Your job is to show up, have a few laughs, snap some pictures, and allow the unique qualities that set you apart from every other actor in Hollywood shine through. Acting is playing%u2026and your heashot session should be no different.
